KABUL (SW): A number of analysts have deemed the recently established ‘Afghanistan Protection & Stability Council’ led by former Jihadi leaders and former government officials as useless for the country.
Analysts believed that those who are members of this council are former government high ranking officials who have left no positive and tangible achievements behind.
Tahir Hashemi, a political expert, said that many members of the newly established council have worked in the former government but have left no positive legacy behind. He said that since some members of the council did not earn any high-ranking position in the current government, they established the council to assert pressure on the government for personal gains.
He asserted that most of the troubles in the country are caused by the previous government led by Hamid Karzai.
Latif Nazari, another political analyst, said that the formation of the council could have two aspects, first it could aim to seek power from the government and weaken the government, and secondly, it could emerge as an opposition, which would hold government accountable for weak performance.
A number of parliamentarians too believe that the members of the council have established the body once they fell short of being included in the new government.
Saleh Mohammad Saleh, an MP, said that many members in the council are former Mujaheddin who are discontent with the government.
Allah Gul Mujahed, an MP, said that the citizens should do their best for the stability of the government and should not easily fell prey to the opposition. He added that tribal elders, Jihadi leaders and the citizens should support the current government.
Afghanistan Protection and Stability Council calls itself as the biggest opposition of the government.
It is led by leaders like Abdul Rab Rasul Sayaf, Mohammad Ismayel Khan, Younes Qanoni, Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, Zalmai Rasul, Sadeq Modaber, Mohammad Omar Daudzai, Besmillah Mohammadi, Abdul Rahim Wardak and Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi.
