BAMYAN CITY (SW): An illegal cache of arms and ammunitions have been dismantled by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in the central Bamyan province that also reportedly had Iranian made weapons stored in it.
Hayatullah Rostahzada, director security in Bamyan shared the findings of the raid with the journalists in Bamyan City on Sunday. He said the cache had anti-personnel and anti-vehicle mines, a number of small and medium size automatic rifles and rounds of ammunitions.
Rumor has it that the Taliban and pro-Daesh rebels have presence in this central province but local officials don’t buy into it. Bamyan officials called it a propaganda.
It is worth mentioning that Bamyan is considered as a relatively peaceful and secure province in the country.
Muhammad Zahir Zohair, Governor of Bamyan, expressed fear that Taliban and Daesh would start their spring offensives very soon. Zaher added that Bamyanis trust the capabilities of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) who will not allow the armed opposition to have any influence here.
