KABUL (SW): Gulbadin Hekmatyar, the leader of the Hezb-e-Islami party, said that creation of coalition governments and division of power based on ethnic groups have often resulted in divisions.
Gulbadin Hekmatyar, speaking at a news conference in Kabul on Thursday, emphasized upon creation of a ‘strong government’ instead of coalition, saying that the president should be elected on the basis of a free and fair elections in a non-fraudulent way.
Gulbadin Hekmatyar in his speech referred to the recent tensions between the Arg and the Jamiat-e-Islami over Atta Mohammad Noor’s resignation, and said that such disagreements undermine the government, and Hezb-e-Islami see the need for a strong government in Afghanistan.
Emphasizing on the resolution of this tension, Mr. Hekmatyar added that such problems will prolong the war in the country, which only benefits the enemies of Afghanistan. “We do not agree with the efforts to undermine the government, Afghanistan needs a strong and central government”, he added.
