GHOR (SW): Hundreds of civilians in Ghor province have joined hands with the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) against the pro-Daesh militants.
Security officials in the province stated that hundreds of civilians have taken arms and joined the ongoing offensives against the militants. Gen. Ziyauddin Saqib, the acting police chief in Ghor province, told Salam Watandar that as many as 500 civilians have joined the operation against Daesh militants in the province. He added that the civilians together with the ANSF have pushed back the Daesh fighters from parts of Ghalmin area of Feroz Koh city.
The acting police chief in the province noted that as many as 8 insurgents have been killed so far. He briefed that during the operation an Afghan soldier has also lost his life and two others got injured.
Saqib went on and said that the operation would continue until the militants are completely eliminated from northern areas of the country.. “We have equipped the civilians with weapons and efforts are underway to completely remove the militants from Ghalmin area”, he added.
A week ago, the pro-Daesh militants killed 30 civilians in Kasi area of the province.
