KABUL (SW): A number of aspiring students willing to pursue higher education are concerned over the change in timing of the ‘Kankoor’ university entrance examinations.
In conversation with Salam Watandar, the students said the Kankoor used to be held early in winter paving for resumption of studies in the universities in spring, but this has been changed pushing the start of academic year into summer.
Khalida, one such student, said any change is welcomed as long as it is for the welfare instead of causing more troubles. Fazil Wahidi, another student, said the change in timings has put the successful as well as failed participants of the Kankoor in troubles by wasting their time. The students urged the Ministry of Higher Education to resolve their issue.
Meanwhile the MoHE, has defended the move to change the timing of the Kankoor pronouncing it as a troubleshooter. Arifa Paikar, spokesman for the MoHE, said the Kankoor would commence in March and continue till June.
Despite loud claims by the MoHE to ensure transparency in the Kankoor, many such university entrance exams expect in the previous two years, have been marred by allegations of rigging.
