GHOR (SW) – Members of the Ghor civil society on Saturday condemned the brutal killing of Abdul Samad Amiri by the Taliban here.
Addressing a presser in this connection, Mohammad Hassan Hakimi, coordinator of Ghor civil society, said the Taliban have committed an inhuman and anti-Islam act. They demanded the government to take this incident seriously and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Member of the Ghor provincial council, Abdul Hameed Nateqi, also condemned the killing of Amiri. He urged the government to ensure security of the citizens, particularly the human rights defenders.
The Taliban abducted and beheaded Amiri after abducting him from the main Kabul – Ghor highway on Thursday.
According to Amiri’s family members, he was not involved in any sorts of political activities, and was only striving for peoples’ rights. His uncle, Ahmad Hussain Danishyar, said Amiri was the sole bread earner for the whole family. Amiri only got married last year, and has left behind a seven-month-old boy behind.
One of Amiri’s co-workers, Fareeda Nasiri, said the slain human rights defender had so many dreams for the welfare of the country.
