JALALABAD (SW): The provincial director for Hajj and Religious Affairs (HRA) in Nangarhar province has survived a suicide attack at him, but his brother has been killed.
According to the provincial officials, a lone suicide bomber killed the brother of Abdul Zaher, the director for Hajj and Religious Affairs, after the Friday prayers in the Sur Rod district. Zaher has said the attacker detonated the explosives when he embraced his brother in the traditional way.
The incident took place in the Hejrat village of the district. Two would-be suicide bombers are said to be arrested before they could detonate their explosives.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor has confirmed the incident. He told Salam Watandar a total of three people got wounded in this attack. Khogyani added the main suspect of the attack is on the run, and the security forces are searching for him.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
