KABUL (SW): The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations (MoRR) launched the SCOPE biometric registration for returnees and displaced families in Kabul on Tuesday.
Officials at the MoRR has said that through this system, aid money and support will be more transparently distributed. Sayed Hussain Alimi Balkhi, the Minister for Refugees and Repatriations, said that under this system, needy families will be identified and assisted by the World Food Program. He said the system is effective in preventing corruption and duplication of aid at different locations and time.
According to the Minister seven million people will be registered in this program in the next two years, and by June 2018, about two million people will be registered in the SCOPE system.
Wahidullah Amani, the communication director for the World Food Program (WFP) in Afghanistan, told Salam Watandar that the SCOPE is a new system, and for the first time it has been launched in Nangarhar, Kandahar, and Kabul provinces. According to Mr. Amani, the SCOPE biometric registration will bring transparency.
It is said this system will help the WFP in implementing its bigger plans and strategies that this organization has envisioned for its long-term support and assistance in Afghanistan.
