BAMIYAN (SW): In one of Bamiyan’s ancient cave dwellings, one kilometre north of the Buddha statue, a 19-year old high school student started a “pre-school kindergarten” to teach other kids for free. This kindergarten was founded six years ago and now 25 kids come here to learn from Freshta Ahmadi.
Fresha Ahmadi, the founder of this kindergarten told Salam Watandar that 18 girls and 7 boys are coming to her kindergarten to learn. She has been teaching them Dari, English, Match, and Koran in an ancient cave where she and her parents live.
Fresha said that they don’t have access to drinking water in her cave dwelling and called on the government to provide them with the access to drinking water.
The local residents and the parents of the students praised Freshta and her initiative to start a kindergarten for children and called on the government to support her in her educational initiatives.
This kindergarten has a small library consisting of 300 children’s books, Islamic and English educational materials. Though, Freshta Ahmadi has purchased these books with her own money to help educate other children in her village.
