Bamiyan residents ratted with doctors’ behavior

30/11/2016

BAMIYAN CITY (SW): Residents in Bamiyan province have said they are rattled with the way doctors behave with the patients in the public hospital.

Zahra Qurban Zada and Sultan Ali, two residents of the province told Salam Watandar that they do not expect a courteous behavior from the doctors but they should at least behave as professionals. Zahra noted that instead of feeling relived and comfortable the patients feel dejected and depressed upon witnessing the behavior of the doctors. Sultan Ali said in this regard that the doctors here are short tempered and have no courtesy for the patients.

The locals complained that majority of the doctors at the public hospital are not professionals, and have instead obtained short term diploma or nursing courses in Pakistan.

Dr. Wafiullah Kamawi, interim head for the provincial directorate of health, agreed that some doctors might not be behaving properly with the patients. He however, noted that large number of the patients brings the doctors under stress that result in affecting their behavior.

Meanwhile, Dr. Saleem Nekpe, director at the Bamyan Public Hospital, has rejected the allegations leveled in this regard. He underlined that the hospital caters up to 600 patients on daily basis, and is serving the community 24 hours a day. Nekpe highlighted that limited resources and abundance of patients have kept the medical staff under stress.
