Aviation sector revenue on the rise

KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) has declared on Wednesday its revenues have surged by 15 per cent this year.

According to the ACCA, in the ongoing 1395 Lunar Year, the Aviation Authority collected 4.3 billion afghanis as revenues which is 15 per cent more than the last year. Qasim Rahimi, spokesman for the ACAA, addressing a press conference on Wednesday here, said the Aviation Authority has spent most of its budget on construction of airports in the country.

According to the ACAA spokesman, large chunk of its revenue came from foreign aircrafts using the country’s airspace. “We have started the procurement process for Herat, Kandahar and Daikundi airports. We shall start the reconstruction of the airports in coming lunar year”, informed Rahimi.

Meanwhile, Hikmatullah Qawanij, spokesman for the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, said on the occasion the Ministry has scrutinized transportation and shipping companies for the current lunar year, and has repealed 341 licenses of companies which did not comply with the rules.
