MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW): Atta Mohammad Noor, the governor of Balkh province and chief executive of the Jamiat-e-Islami party, has severely criticized the National Unity Government (NUG).
Upon his return from Turkey where he formed a new anti-government coalition, Noor addressed his supporters in Mazar-e-Sharif, capital of Balkh province on Sunday. Noor said the NUG has reached the top limit of autocracy, and a handful of individuals are ruling the government. He went on to say people continue to die in the country, but few government officials are busy collecting fortune.
He charged the National Procurement Commission (NPC) for corruption, and called for transparent contracting and procurement process. He also lashed out at the international community for ‘pouring money’ into the ‘pockets of thieves’. Noor pronounced the allegations levelled against first Vice President Abdul Rasheed Dosum by Ahmad Ischi as politically motivated. The Jamiat-e-Islami leader said the newly formed alliance by him and Dostum aims at strengthening national unity, and the international community should not stand against it.
Noor warned if the NUG failed to bring reforms, and international community continued to back it, he would take support of every other country.
