JALALABAD (SW) – The responsibility for security in Jalalabad city has been handed over to the army, an official informed on Wednesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said the decision has been made by the provincial administration following string of terrorist attacks in the city. He added the 201-Sailab Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) has taken charge of the security affairs in the city.
The locals have welcomed the move, and have called for actions against armed gangs in the city.
A well-placed security source informed Salam Watandar the string of terrorist attacks has claimed more than 200 lives and wounded up to 600 people here.
