APSC complaints about suggestions falling on deaf ears

28/04/2016

KABUL (SW): Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayaff, a former jihadi commander and head of Afghanistan Protection and Stability Council (APSC), has said that the council has offered recommendations for the leaders of the country aimed at improving the situation, but these recommendations have not received any attention yet.

He said that if security was not ensured and the situation continued this way, they would consider an alternate for the current situation.

Speaking at a gathering to mark the 24th anniversary of Mujaheddin’s victory against the pro-Soviet government, he said that they would not seek to fragment the government, but it would be difficult to put up with the status quo. He believed that the fall of the current government, considering the fragile situation, would be equivalent to leave the whole country in total chaos and the government should do its best to avoid such scenario.

He dubbed Taliban’s activities under the name of Jihad as “crime” and said that this group should stop misusing and playing with Jihad. He urged upon the security forces not to be influenced by the indifferences within the government and instead defend their country with devotion and commitment.

On Pakistan, he said that the progress Pakistan has made is rooted to Jihad in Afghanistan. He further said that history would repeat itself and Pakistan by supporting the terrorists, would lose its defending factors in the region (Afghanistan).

Mohammad Younus Qanoni, another former Jihadi commander and a member at APSC, said on the occasion that the culture of criticizing Afghans Jihad is a pre-planned conspiracy of the enemy.

APSC was established nearly six months ago. This council has called itself as the biggest political opposition to the National Unity Government (NUG) which is comprised of influential person from the previous government like Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf, Mohammad Ismayel Khan, Younos Qanooni, Abdul Hadi Arghandewal, Zalmai Rasoul, Sadiq Modaber, Mohammad Omar Daudzai, Besmillah Mohammadi, Abdul Rahim Wardak and Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi.
