KABUL (SW) – Mawlana Muhammad Abdullah, an election commissioner, on Saturday said he has not received the complaint letter by the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan against him.
Addressing a press conference, he said UNAMA should present proof to back the allegations against him, and the concerned institutions should look into it. He said the letter has charged him with levelling racial slurs and death threats against a colleague at the election commission.
Abdullah added two foreign observers as well as the UNAMA observers have so far kept quite over this issue. He urged the UN mission not to undermine the independence of the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan.
This comes days after the UNAMA chief and UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto, charged Abdullah for misconduct in an official meeting at the IEC.
