MAIDAN CITY (SW): The provincial government in central Maidan Wardak province on Thursday launched anti-narcotics awareness campaign in schools.
According to the officials, students across the province would be provided with information through various means to enlighten them about the drawbacks of narcotics.
Hayatullah Hayat, Governor of MaidanWardak, welcomed the move by the provincial Anti-Narcotics Department. The governor, who also visited schools, advised students present in the classrooms to pass the valuable information to their friends outside schools.
The governor urged students to be instrumental in getting rid of the menace from society.
Meanwhile, provincial anti-narcotics department in northern Balkh province confiscated 46 kg of opium and arrested a man in connection with the incident.
Sayed Kamal Sadat, the provincial police chief said that the perpetrators had placed the drugs skillfully in a car and planned to transfer it to Faryaab province through Jalalabad when they were nabbed.
