KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Sarwar Danish, second vice president, said on Sunday political opponent are striving hard for election campaign to divert public opinion against President Ghani.
He said this at a ceremony on coordination among entities fighting against violence aimed at women. Vice president Danish said in regard to allegations of sexual violence allegedly committed by government officials that the law deals with such cases in personal capacity, and the accused is responsible for individual crimes.
Speaking on the occasion, Fareed Hamidi, Attorney General, said the victims of sexual violence should refer to legal institutions for justice.
The issue of sexual harassment of women in government is not new, but it got the limelight following remarks by Habibullah Ahmadzai, a former advisor to President Ghani, about such incidents at the presidency.
In the latest case, several of the women, who were former government employees, said they quit government jobs due to demands for sex by top officials.
