KABUL (SW): Afghanistan’s wrestling and body building squad bagged 11 medals at the Asian Championships that helped it secure its second place in the competitions.
Officials at the Wrestling and Body Building Federation said the competitions were held in the Iranian city of Tabrez. It added that 20 Asian countries participated in the competition. Afghanistan secured 113 points and earned second place. Iran won the competition with a total of 137 points.
There were individual as well as team contests. All in all, Afghanistan won a gold, one silver, eight bronze and 2 copper medals. For Afghanistan, Mushtaq Hassan won the gold medal and Mohammad Ayaz won the silver medal.
Iraq came third with 111 points followed by Tajikistan with 107 points. Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia, and Vietnam also participated in these competitions.
