KABUL (SW): At a conference – “Special Dialogue on Afghan Mines”, held at the US Embassy in Kabul today, the head of Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said the revenues of the MoMP have increased in 2017 in comparison to previous years.
“The ministry had generated more than 2 billion AFN in revenue last year (2017). However, in 2016 it was only 900 million AFN, which is a noticeable increase”, Nargis Nehan, head of the MoMP said at the conference.
Meanwhile, Nargis Nehan also informed that the contracts for the extraction of the Amu Darya oilfield, the Afghan-Tajik oilfield, and the Ghori cement have been thoroughly reviewed and analyzed which will be submitted to the High Economic Council soon and upon the approval of the HEC, the details of the contracts will be publicly released.
The “Special Dialogue on Afghan Mines” conference which was sponsored by the USAID had invited over 100 local and international mining companies. The officials of these companies have been provided with the information on the potential of private sector investment in Afghanistan’s mining sector. In addition, the opportunities for the private-public partnerships in the Afghan mining sector was discussed at the conference held at the US Embassy today.
