Afghanistan receives 6 goals against Asian giant Japan

TEHRAN (SW): Facing Asian giant Japan in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, Afghanistan sustained six goals in Tehran’s Azadi stadium.

Packed with international stars, Japan scored first goal of the match 10th minutes into the game. Borussia Dortmund playmaker Shinji Kagawa struck in the 10th minute and Masato Morishige doubled the lead 10 minutes before halftime for Japan.

In the second half against 58th ranked Japan, Afghanistan sustained four more goals. Japanese strikers Shinji Kagawa and Shinji Okazaki scored twice each.

This was third qualifier for the 130th ranked Afghanistan that managed to overcome Cambodia 1-0 and lost to Syria 1-6.

Ranked 58th in the world, Japan could not beat Singapore in its previous qualifying encounter leaving it second in the Group E.

The four-time Asian Champion Japan would take on group leader Syria in their next qualifier in Oman on October 8.
