KABUL (SW): Afghanistan would hold two preparation camps for the forthcoming South Asian Football Federation Cup to be hosted in India next month.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), a training camp would be held in the capital Kabul 8 to 12 December before embarking for another camp in Qatar on December 20. A number of Afghans residing abroad are expected to participate in the camp held in this Gulf state.
Afghanistan’s Croatian-born German coach, Petar Segrt has asked the AFF to arrange a friendly match for the national team in a bid to prepare for the mega event. The AFF however, has so far not confirmed any friendly match before the SAFFF.
The Suzuki South Asian Football Federation Cup (SAFF) would kick-off in Kerala, India on 24 December. Afghanistan would defend its title in this tournament that would also feature India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.
The defending champion would play its first match of the tournament on December 24 against Bhuttan and on December 28 against Maldives.
All of the matches would commence at 6pm Afghanistan time. The SAFF champion side would be awarded $ 50, 000 while the runner-up would earn $ 25, 000.
