Afghan-Turk schools should be left out of politics, parents of students

KABUL (SW): The use of force by the local authorities in support of the Turkish government’s request to hand over the management of the Afghan-Turk schools to Turkish government has caused a number of families of students in these schools to confront security forces and a number of these families accused the security forces of brutality.

A number of the families of students told Salam Watandar that the Turkish Consulate, Balkh Directorate of Education, and a number of security forces wanted to take over the Afghan-Turk school in Balkh, but they faced the resistance from the parents of students.

Engineer Asmatullah Asem and Abdul Qahar Aslami, two of the parents of Afghan-Turk school students told said that these schools should not be treated politically and they will resist the transfer of management of these schools to Turkish government until the end.

Meanwhile, members of the Association of Parents of Students of Afghan-Turk schools today at a news conference in Kabul called the government’s recent action in Balkh as illegitimate and “cowardice”.

 However, Sebghatullah Mustaqim, head of Balkh Directorate of Education said they visited the school because of the presence of irresponsible gunmen at the school premise.
