CHARIKAAR (SW) – The Band-e-Amir cricket zone was established here on Saturday with one team each from Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, Bamyan, Daikundi and Maidan Wardak provinces.
Addressing a gathering in this connection, Azizullah Fazli, chairman for the Afghanistan Cricket Board, said efforts are underway to establish quality cricket stadiums across the country to host international teams in the future.
Fazaluddin Aayar, governor of Parwan province, announced granting 20 jeribs of land to the ACB for developing a cricket stadium here. He said the government is ready to extend support to sports. The move has been welcomed by cricket lovers in this zone.
Two local cricketers, Sikandar and Ziaul Haq, told Salam Watandar lack of a proper facility have long hindered their path to growth and success in cricket.
The ACB officials vowed to expedite efforts to promote cricket across the country.
