KABUL (SW) – Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman High Council for National Reconciliation, has said the intra-Afghan talks with Taliban will begin next week.
He said this addressing a moot organized by the Institute of War and Peace Studies in the capital Kabul.
Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Qatar office spokesman, Suhail Shaheen has said in a series of tweets that a Taliban delegation led by their deputy chief, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar visited Pakistan earlier this week to discuss matters of bilateral interest.
He said the talks in Islamabad were about establishing peace and security in Afghanistan and the region and intra-Afghan negotiation and peace in Afghanistan. “Similarly, both sides stressed upon the importance of building trust and good relations between the two countries”, said a statement issued by the group.
Abdul Razaq Barq, a Pakistan-based freelance journalist told Salam Watandar the Taliban delegation discussed the agenda for forthcoming intra-Afghan talks with the Pakistani officials, particularly the military and intelligence officials. He claimed the 22 Afghan pilots and commandoes arrested by the Taliban are held in Kohat district of Pakistan.
