KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Mirwais Balkhi, minister of the Ministry of Education, has said that the new academic year will soon begin online and on television in areas where people have access to electricity and the internet.

Minister Balkhi told a news conference on Thursday that Education Television will record up to 90 lessons a day in the official languages of the country, and that these lessons will soon be broadcast on national television.

The Ministry of Education has divided the school's curriculum into two sections: social sciences and natural sciences.

The head of the ministry said that the guidelines for social science topics, including languages, have been prepared for students in grades 7 through 12 in the form of self-study, and students are going to study at home according to class divisions, but are prepared for educational subjects.

Balkhi added that in those parts of the country where there is a problem of lack of electricity and lack of access to television and the internet, classes will begin in person, taking into account health guidelines.

According to the Ministry of Education, if quarantine measures extend, the annual examination would be adjusted accordingly.

The beginning of the new academic year has been postponed due to the outbreak of the corona virus in the country, and more than a month and a half after the beginning of new academic year, students of public schools are in a state of disarray.

The government has closed schools and universities, along with other government agencies, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

It is estimated that 3, 563 people have been infected with corona in the country so far, of which 106 have died and 468 have been confirmed.
