JALALABAD (AA) – A suicide attack on a funeral prayers gathering in Nangarhar province killed at least 24 people, an official confirmed on Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said this was a suicide attack killing at least 24 people and wounding over 60 others. He said the incident took place in the Khewa district where a number of local officials had gathered for the funeral prayers of a former police commander.
He feared the death toll might surge further.
This came as a hospital in the capital Kabul on Tuesday came under armed assault following multiple loud explosions.
Taliban rejected involvement in both attacks.
