JAWZJAN (SW) – At least ten Taliban insurgents got killed when they wished to plant an improvised explosive device in a car in Jawzjan province.
According to the provincial police chief, Abdul Wahid Wejdan, the incident took place in the Mardyan district. He said the insurgents wished to carry out the blast on the main Balkh – Jawzjan highway, but the explosives detonated among them before they could reach the target.
At least Taliban insurgents are believed to be injured.
The police chief said the Taliban insurgents have directives from Pakistan’s spy agency, ISI, to target installations of public welfare in the province.
Local officials confirmed the Taliban have also destroyed at least three small bridges in the Aqcha district of the province.
The Taliban have not commented on these developments so far.
