KABUL (SW) – The late Monday night Taliban-claimed tractor bombing killed 16 people in the capital, Kabul an official confirmed on Tuesday.
The Interior ministry spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said the suicide tractor bombing took place near the Green-Village.
He confirmed all of 16 people killed and over 100 injured following this huge bombing are civilians. Rahimi said five attackers got killed and nearly 400 foreign aid workers residing in the area rescued.
The Taliban took responsibility for the attack.
The attack has been widely condemned. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said: “The war protracted by the Taliban against our country and citizens is a crime against humanity.”

A well-placed source at the Green Village told Salam Watandar the compound was under serious threat for the past one month. The source said a car packed with up to 3 tons of explosives was confiscated a day before the latest attack, The source said at least three vehicles were suspected to have been prepared for the attack.
A number of schools and a public mosque are located within 200 meters of distance from the Green Village.
