KABUL (SW): Defense ministry officials reported on the promotion of the Special Operations Division to a Corps indicating the implementing the four-year program of the Ministry and the good performance of special forces in the ongoing military conflict in the country.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and General John Nicolson, the commander of Resolute Support Mission, participated in the ceremony held here in Kabul on Sunday.

Dawlat Waziri, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, talking to Salam Watandar said that promotion of Division to Corps is executed based on the decree of the President. “In the composition of this Corps, several brigades including quick response brigades, are included.  New equipment and advanced weapons are added that will be useful to end the conflict in Afghanistan”, informed Waziri.

But military experts believe that unless the effective management of the Ministry of Defense is not formed, such Corps will be effective.

But, Zalmai Wardak, a military analyst, told Salam Watandar that unless an efficient management does not take in the Ministry of Defense, the creation of such Corps will not be beneficial to bringing security.

Although the Ministry of Defense's performance in the current conflict management in the country has always been criticized, the role of special forces in military operations has been praised by military experts.
