HERAT CITY (SW): Hundreds of Herat residents took to the streets on Wednesday against deepening administrative corruption, insecurity, discrimination and joblessness in the province.
Chanting slogans against the government, the protesters underlined that the level of corruption and insecurity in Herat have touched new heights. The protesters were wearing white shrouds to demonstrate grim state of affairs. Blaming the central government for not paying enough attention towards the province, Heratis warned they would orchestrate even bigger rallies if their demands are not met in a month.
They gave President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani a month’s time to fix persisting issues in the province. The protesters warned otherwise they would close down the provincial administration building.
