
KANDAHAR CITY (SW): Provincial authorities have said Abdul Wali, a Khandahar resident, splashed petrol and set his wife on fire in the Qala-i-Fasil area of the province on Wednesday.
Samim Khpalwalk, provincial governor’s spokesman, told Salam Watandar Abdul Wali was unemployed, and the incident took place when his wife refused to give him money. He said the incident has been registered as domestic violence, and the culprit is under police detention.
Dr. Mohammad Wais, official at the Kandahar public hospital, has said the victim’s 60 per cent body is burned. “She is in critical condition”, added Wais. The victim has nine children, and was working as a domestic maid to make ends meet. She has urged the government to deliver justice swiftly.
