KUNDUZ CITY (SW): The Taliban militants have been driven out of the restive Kunduz city days ago but the fighting has not stopped that has left thousands of citizens live on the edge.
It is increasingly getting difficult to find things for the everyday life due to insecurity, and whatever food and other items are available they are sold at highly inflated prices. Residents told Salam Watandar that the shops are closed, and people are on the run from the city.
Shukria Paikan, member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) from Kunduz, has said in this regard that the central government is not paying due attention to this crisis. We wished to obtain the views of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) but to no avail.
Meanwhile, Sidiq Siddiqui, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has claimed that the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) have made headways in Kunduz. He noted that the areas of Khwaja Mashad, Khan Abad and others have been cleared of the rebels.
Into the fifth day of fighting in Kunduz, some 200 people have been confirmed as wounded.
