BAMIYAN CITY (SW): Officials at the Afghanistan Forensic Scientific Organization (AFSO), have said that a mass grave has been found in Dasht-e-Esah Khan area in central Bamiyan province.
They said that the remnants of 7 dead bodies found in the area suggested that they were shot dead by AK 47 in years around 1978. Mohammad Ashraf Bakhtiyari, Head of the AFSO said that all the seven dead bodies found in the grave are of men.
“The victims’ age range from 16 years to 70 years”, he said.
The officials at the AFSO expressed concerns over the destruction of the mass graves and urged upon the punishment of the perpetrators.
Mohammad Tahir Zohair, governor for the province, however discarded the claims over the destruction of the mass graves, and said that it was 8 years ago when the mass graves were found and local government has not allowed anyone to destroy them ever since.
The officials at the AFSO also said that there are many mass graves in Afghanistan but the exact number of them is not clear.
