KABUL(SW):Security officials called the recent remarks made by Zahir Qadir, Deputy Speaker at the Wolse Jirga (lower house), regarding the National Security Council supporting Daesh, as irresponsible.
Noor-ul-Haq Olumi, Minister of Interior, said that Zahir Qadir’s comments would impact the morale of security forces and the citizens. Speaking at the Wolse Jirga on Monday, Zahir Qadir said that the security officials and NSC support Daesh.
He added that the Daesh’s leaders were in Kabul and keep meeting tribal elders and government officials.
He further said that the government not only fight Daesh but also fight anyone who oppose the group (Daesh).
Minister of Interior, however said that security forces fight Daesh on the front line in Nangarhar and have so far killed 480 fighters of this group. The minister said that if Zahir could prove what he claimed, he should provide the evidence to the judicial bodies.
The Minister indirectly said that if the claims turn out to be untrue, legal action would take place for the claims he made. Rahmatullah Nabil, Director of NDS (National Directorate of Security), said that Daesh has not made any inroads in Afghanistan since its establishment.
He said that security forces need motivation and support and that such claims could demoralize them.
Zahir Qadir said that he has been fighting Desh for two months in Shinwari areas in Nangarhar but the Minister of Interior said that no other armed group was allowed to fight apart from Afghanistan National Security Forces (ANSF).
The minister urged all people who are willing to fight terrorist groups to join ANSF and defend their country within the legal structure.
The Arg (Presidential Palace) said in a statement regarding Zahir Qadir’s claims that the government has always put efforts in fighting Daesh and has had several successful operation against the group.
The statement without mentioning Zahir Qadir’s name, said that the government would prevent any parallel militia in the country.
