KABUL(SW):Eklil Hakimi, Minister of Finance, presented the annual budget for 2016 in the Masharajo Jirga (upper house) on Sunday.
The afn 461.7 billion budget has 283.3 billion for expenditure and afn 178.5 billion for development in it.
He told the house that the 2016 budget is up by 6 percent to the previous one in terms of domestic income.
He hoped that if the security situation improves and the government invests in different economic projects, the economy in the country will grow by 4.4 percent compared to the 2.6 % GDP growth last year.
The President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Abdulla Abdullah has welcomed the new budget by calling it a step towards realizing self-sufficiency, speeding up reforms and improving economic condition in the country.
