
KUNDUZ (SW) – The Taliban insurgents killed at least 12 soldiers and left six more wounded in over-night raids on a check post in Kunduz province.
A well-placed security source told Salam Watandar the incident took place on the main highway linking the provincial capital, Kunduz city, with the Khan Abad district last night. At least six soldiers are reportedly taken away by the Taliban as hostages, the source said.
However, Hadi Jamal, deputy spokesman for the 217 – Pamir Corps, only confirmed clashes in this area. He said both sides sustained casualties in exchange of fire.
The Taliban have taken responsibility for the attack.
