KANDAHAR CITY (SW): The provincial administration in Kandahar confirmed blasts in a cache of arms and ammunition of the Taliban on Tuesday claimed 16 lives in the provincial capital Kandahar city.
Dawood Ahmadi, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed the engineers of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) were busy defusing the explosives when it exploded. He added the Taliban had parked two containers full of explosives in the Fabrika area of the city for deadly attacks on the occasion of Eid.
According to the governor’s spokesman, the NDS engineers defused the explosives in one of the containers, but the second one exploded causing death and destruction.
Among over 30 wounded, many are reportedly in critical state, and the death toll is feared to rise.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.
