KABUL (SW): To attend the forthcoming Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Monday left for Uzbekistan.
Shah Hussain Murtazawi, deputy spokesman for the President, told a press conference in Kabul that a high-level official delegation accompanied the President Ghani. He added the Afghan President would hold a one-on-one meeting with his Uzbekistani counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, today to discuss ways and means to bolster ties. On Tuesday, the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan would kick-off with representation from some 23 countries.
Murtazawi said President Ghani would also hold meetings with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and other heads of delegations.
The spokesman further said counter-terrorism measures would top the agenda as the menace threatens the whole region.
