KABUL (SW): A well placed source has told Salam Watandar that the Supreme Court has rejected for unknown reasons a summary by the President asking for clarification into the ministers’ unseating.
Commenting on this, Saleh Mohammad Saleh, a member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) said that the Constitution is very clear on this issue, and that is why the Supreme Court has not considered the President’s summary. He added that the Supreme Court does not want to cause a rift between the executive and the judiciary. Saleh went on to claim that the President is also in no mood to drag feet with this issue, and would introduce seven new ministers to the house to replace those who lost the vote of confidence last month.
Talking to Salam Watandar, Abdullah Attari, spokesman for the Supreme Court did not confirm or reject the news. He said that any decision by the superior judiciary in this regard would be shared with the press. Shah Hussain Murtazawi, deputy spokesman for the President also denied having any knowledge.
It is worth noticing that the Wolesi Jirga unseated these ministers for failing to utilize at least 70 percent of their development budget. Those unseated by the house include Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nasrin Oryakhail, Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, Mehmood Baligh, Minister for Public Works, Mohammadullah Batarsh, Minister for Transport, Hanif Balkhi, Minister for Education, and Farida Momand, Minister for Higher Education.
The President had asked the Supreme Court to deliberate on this matter and share its recommendations.
