BAMYAN (SW): Tens of Bamyan residents on Saturday staged a demonstration in favor of a couple in love here.
The locals informed that a young girl named Mamora from the local Pashton community escaped from her home with her lover named Qudoos from the local Hazara community, however, police intercepted them and handed the girl back to authorities in Bamyan city. On the directives of the local human rights commission, the girl has been moved to the shelter home. Later, based on an understanding among the local officials and the girl’s relative from Kohmard district, the girl has been moved to her hometown.
Meanwhile, tens of Bamyan residents staged protest against this decision. Abdullah Danisyar, one participant of the protest, said the girl was crying, fearing for her life when she was moved from the shelter home to her hometown. The protestors charged local authorities of denying the girl her basic rights.
Khalifa Amin, uncle of the boy Qudoos, said on the occasion that they wished to meet the girl, but officials at the shelter home did not allowed them. He blamed the provincial governor of handing over the girl to a local powerful man Mawlawi Kabir.
