KABUL (SW) – Sadiq Qaderi, a member of Wolesi Jirga (lower house), told a news conference on Wednesday that 40 people have died after contracting the coronavirus in the Sarobi district of Kabul province.
He said to have the list of those who have died. The MP called for an investigation into the suspicious death of 40 residents of the district, 60 kilometers from center Kabul. He accused the Ministry of Health and the government of not doing enough to fight the virus.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Ferozuddin Feroz along with Waheed Omar, the President's Public Relations Advisor, were summoned to the WJ for a briefing. The health minister said a delegation has been sent to the Sarvobi district of Kabul to investigate dozens of suspected deaths there. He said that a delegation was sent to prevent the spread of the virus and to check the condition of the hospitals in the district.
Some members of parliament expressed concern about the lack of medical equipment, testing equipment in the country's laboratories and the lack of detection of suspicious cases. They also criticized the unbalanced budget allocated to the provinces.
The country's health minister warned of the spread of the coronavirus virus to the homes and hospitals, saying it would be a disaster if people did not listen to doctors' advice.
The Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed 70 new cases in Kabul, Herat, Nimroz, Kunduz and other provinces. So far, 784 people have been infected with the virus in the country, of which 25 have died.
