KUNDUZ CITY (SW): At least 4 thousand families have been internally displaced in Kunduz in the past 3 weeks due to the ragging violence.
Officials at the provincial Directorate of Refugees and Repatriations (DoRR) have said since the beginning of Taliban’s spring offensive at least 4 thousand families have been displaced in the province. According to the officials these families are displaced from 8 northern villages on the Kunduz-Takhar highway and Qala-e-Zaal district of the province.
Mohammad Yousif Khidam, head of emergency office at the DoRR, told Salam Watandar the IDPs are living in harsh conditions while no help has reached them. “More than 1 thousand IDPs are surveyed by the aid workers in order to distribute help”, added Khidam.
Nazar Mohammad, an IDP from Qala-e-Zaal district, said the displaced families even do not have food and water. Mohammad Anwar, another IDP, complained aside from food, the children have nothing to wear. These IDPs have urged the government to launch anti-insurgency operations and pave the way for their return.
Abdul Hamid Hamidi, provincial police chief, assured that the security forces will soon launch military operations to wipe out the area from the insurgents.
