GARDEZ (SW): A well-placed security source informed Salam Watandar the Paktia police chief and up to 33 other people got killed and more than 100 got injured in a suicide car bombing followed by armed assault by the Taliban on Tuesday.
The militants have targeted the provincial and regional police headquarters situated in the north of Gardez city on the Paktia – Kabul highway. The suicide car bombing at around 10 am was so intense it was heard miles away.
Eye witnesses informed that the provincial police chief Toryalay Abdyani got killed. As many as 15 university students are also reportedly killed in this blast. Salam Watandar reporter from the area informed that the police headquarters was in flames.
