KABUL (SW): The spy agency National Directorate of Security (NDS) claimed to have nabbed 30 suspected militants associated with the vicious Haqqani network in Kabul on Monday.

The spy agency said these suspected militants were planning to execute terrorist acts in the capital shortly. It added that the suspects were wanted for the latest terrorist attacks in Shah Shaeed region, Macroriyan and the Airport in Kabul. The men are said to be under the command of Mawlawi Ishaq of the Haqqani network.

Among these men included a shadow district Chief Qari Janan who also happens to be a member of Haqqani network’s Peshawar Shura. Two more militant commanders Israr Ahmad, Malik and Mustafa have also been arrested, it added.

According to the NDS, the rebels were planning to attack the Presidential Palace (Arg), NDS’s regional office, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), the US Embassy, Kabul’s Police Headquarters, the Parliament building and a local university.

The NDS recalled that the two vehicles laden with the explosives caught in south eastern Paktika province earlier this month were destined to reach Kabul for these attacks. Similarly, the NDS arrested some 10 members of the Haqqani network in Khost last week.
