ZABUL (SW) – In a search operation, the security forces freed 16 civilians and 12 members of armed forces from a Taliban prison in Zabul province.
Provincial governor Rehmatullah Yarmal told Salam Watandar these inmates have been from a secret prison of the Taliban in the Nau Bahar district. He said this was a secret facility of the insurgents where people abducted from nearby provinces were kept.
The governor said two Taliban guards of the prison got killed in the operation by the security forces, and no one else has been harmed.
The insurgents have not commented on this.
