KABUL (SW): The latest report by Civil Protection Advocacy Group (CPAG) indicates that in the ongoing war in Afghanistan 254 civilians were killed and 366 wounded in the month of August alone, a significant number of which consists of women and children.

Based on the findings of CPAG, most casualties were reported from provinces like Kabul with 47, Herat with 65, Nangarhar with 45, and Helmand with 15 civilian deaths.

The Group added that major factors in the massive civilian casualties were due increased suicide attacks and airstrikes, roadside mines, rockets, and IEDs.

Findings from the CPAG indicate significant civilian casualties from U.S. air strikes in Afghanistan, with 46 dead and 25 injured, most of them children and women.

The report also notes that as a result of U.S. airstrikes in August, 18, 15 and 13 people were killed in Nangarhar, Herat, and Logar provinces respectively.

In the report, CPAG has urged Afghan security forces and foreign forces to value the lives of the people and protect the civilians.

The Group believes that the international law of war and human rights are ignored in the war in Afghanistan. The report called on the parties involved in Afghanistan not to target civilians. The CPAG also calls on terrorists and insurgents groups such as Daesh, not to attack religious places, including mosques and schools.
