FAIZABAD (SW): Abdullah Naji Nazari, a member of the provincial council in northeastern Badakhshan province has said that two terrorist groups have entered the province.
He said that the exact number of these terrorists entering Yamgan, Khastak and Jurm districts is not clear yet. “These terrorists have come to Badakhshan through Kotal-e-Tuphkana, which shares border with Chitral district in Pakistan”, he told Salam Watandar.
He added that they entered these districts without any obstacle or any fight with the security forces.
He further said that these foreign terrorists are expert in military affairs.
“These militants are very skillful, they have not started their activities in the districts they are based in yet.” he noted.
Faiz Baigzad, the governor of Badakhshan, has said that intelligence information suggests that the number of these terrorists reach to 200 men.
He said that the terrorists, after spending their training period in Pakistan, have come to Badakhshan and many of them are foreign nationals.
“According to the reports we have received, nearly 200 men have entered Badakhshan through Kotal-e-Tupkhana and Nuristan province”, he said.
The insurgents have significant clout over Yamgan and Warduj districts, and a number of other areas are also under their control in the province.
