MAZAR-I-SHARIF (SW): Gunmen disguised as women shot dead 2 men in police district (PD) 5 of Mazar-i-Sharif city, Balkh province in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The residents of the 5th PD of Mazar-i-Sharif city in a conversation with Salam Watandar said that around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, 4 people were riding on a motorcycle shot dead, Din Mohammad, a tribal elder of Balashar along with his bodyguard.
Locals who do not want to be named said that the men, 2 of whom were disguised as women in burqas, wanted to enter the residence of Din Mohammad. The gunmen opened fire killing Din Mohammad and his bodyguard.
Shir Jan Durrani, the provincial police spokesman, confirming the incident said that only the tribal elder Din Mohammad, was killed in the shooting. He did not give information on the motive behind the shooting, but said that they have already arrested 2 persons in connection with the incident.
According to the information, Din Mohammad hailed from Sar-i-Pul province and was a member of the people’s uprising who was also present during the recent Alborz 12 operations in the Chimtal and Chahar Bolak districts.
Previously, Parviz Kamgar, son of a businessman, was also killed by unknown individuals in Balkh province.
