HERAT (SW) – At least 14 security forces got killed and 20 more got wounded in the Taliban’s assaults in Herat province, a well-placed source informed Salam Watandar.
The incident took place in the Qala-e-Dukhtar neighborhood of Shendand district in the province. A local elder, Tor Mohammad Zarifi said the rebels stormed a military facility here. He added the rebels took away 22 security forces with them, and the dead bodies of five security personnel are seen in the area. The local elder added up to 50 security forces were stationed at this facility.
According to the local elder, the Taliban have taken away all arms and resources from the security facility.
Jailani Farhad, spokesman for the provincial governor, has only confirmed the attack on security forces in Shendand. He said additional troops have reached the site, and investigations are underway.
The Taliban spokesman, Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, has claimed responsibility for the attack, and abducting 20 security forces.
