KABUL(SW): A report released by a civil society institution Adalat (Justice) claimed on Thursday that there exist at least 130, 000 ghost soldiers in the security structure of the country.
According to this institution, these soldiers have no physical presence on the frontlines or checkpoints but they receive salaries on monthly basis.
Adalat office bearers said that their findings indicated that 80 percent of the ghost security men were in the police and other 20 percent were in the structures of army, NDS and other security organizations.
SalamWatandar wished to obtain the views of Ministry of Defense and Interior on the subject but to no avail.
Adalat officials said that their evaluation suggested that currently some 222, 000 soldiers are actively performing their duties in Afghanistan.
This report comes at a time when government claims the country has more than 350, 000 security personnel.
